Challenges facing law firms – Keyhouse breakfast seminar

Thank you to all who joined us bright and early for our breakfast seminar “Wake up and smell the coffee” on the 9th of March in the Aviva Stadium.

The seminar examined the various challenges firms are facing in this new legal landscape, advised on what’s happening in other jurisdictions and what’s likely to happen here in terms of future trends. It also outlined how processes, technology and efficiencies can be used to make a law firm more profitable.

All of the findings presented were backed up by research conducted by Smith and Williamson in Dublin http://www.smith.williamson.ie/news/legal-sector-witnesses-dip-confidence-annual-legal-survey and US legal consultancy firm Altman Weil http://www.altmanweil.com/LFiT2016/

We also had contributions from two key clients: Colm O’Cochlain from Colm O’Cochlain Solicitors in Tallaght and Tom Leahy from BDM Boylan in Cork. They spoke about what they’ve done in their firms to meet these new challenges – ranging from using technology to gain efficiencies to changing business culture.

We also spoke about a micro challenge facing every firm which is managing skills gaps and how data analytics can help here. You can find out more about this here Skills Gap Analysis Overview.

The event had a great turn out and was a great success. This was aided greatly by everyone’s participation in a poll we ran throughout the seminar using novel software enabling us to ask the audience questions which they answered on their phones and then the results would update automatically on screen.
