Accessing your Office

When you or your employees need to work from home or another office, access to files and Keyhouse software will be required. There are several ways to access your Keyhouse application when you are working remotely.

1. LogMeIn / SplashTop:

LogMeIn and SplashTop are types of remote desktop software, which let you remotely control a computer from a different location using an Internet connection. You can access your desktop and all its apps, files and information as if you were physically sitting in front of it.

In order to facilitate this type of access, you will need to liaise with your IT department or IT Supplier. In the event that they are unable to assist you, Keyhouse are offering to assist clients with set up during COVID-19.

2. Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP):

Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) was originally developed by Microsoft to provide users with the ability to remotely connect to computers running Windows operating systems. All you need to do is allow RDP connections on the remote computer (normally your in-house computer server) and connect to it using the RDP client which is a Microsoft application on your PC/Laptop.

You will have an icon on your screen which will allows you to connect to your office system in a secure manner. You will then be able to access your Keyhouse applications, associated documents and emails as if you are using your office PC/Laptop.

In order to facilitate this type of access your IT department or IT Supplier will have needed to setup a virtual PC/Laptop profile on your computer server for you to access your Microsoft Office and Keyhouse applications.

Citrix:

For companies that have a Citrix implementation for remote access, this method of remote working is very similar to using RDP. You will have an icon on your screen which will allow you to connect to your office system in a secure manner. You will be able to access your Keyhouse application and associated documents and emails as if you are using your office PC/Laptop.

3. Virtual Private Network (VPN):

Virtual Private Network (VPN) creates a private “tunnel” from your device to the remote device through the internet and hides your vital data using encryption. Using this technology, you will have the Keyhouse application installed on your PC/Laptop and you will also have the Keyhouse “Add-Ins” installed on your local Microsoft Office applications.

You will have a Keyhouse icon on your screen which will allow you to operate the application on your device and you will connect to your office systems to access the Keyhouse database and associated documents and emails.

In order to facilitate this type of access to the company’s IT department or IT Supplier will have needed to setup a VPN for you to access your Microsoft Office documents, emails and the Keyhouse database.
